Session Preparation Guide

A comprehensive guide on how to prepare for your studio recording session at Bivinylfiora Madrid. Maximize your time, preserve your vocal health, and optimize your creative workflow before you even step through our doors. Proper preparation is the key to a successful, stress-free, and highly productive recording experience.

The Importance of Being Prepared

Stepping into a professional recording studio like Bivinylfiora is an exciting milestone for any artist. Our 150 m² facility, featuring a pristine Control Room and an acoustically treated Live Room, is designed to capture your best performance. However, studio time is valuable. With Vocal Recording priced at 60 €/hour and Analog Tracking at 80 €/hour, every minute counts. Lead Producer Carlos Mendoza always advises clients: "The studio is for capturing the magic, not writing the song." Being thoroughly prepared ensures that your budget goes towards high-quality tracking rather than rehearsals or structural decisions.

This guide will walk you through the essential steps to prepare for your session at our Madrid studio, ensuring you arrive focused, healthy, and ready to create.

01

Pre-Production and Rehearsal

Before your session date arrives, your songs should be fully written, arranged, and rehearsed. Know your lyrics by heart, memorize your instrumental parts, and finalize the tempo (BPM) and key of each track. If you are recording with a band, ensure everyone is tightly synchronized.

Pro Tip: Record a rough demo on your phone or home setup. Listen back critically to identify any weak spots in the arrangement or performance before booking time at Bivinylfiora.

02

Organizing Your Files

If you are bringing backing tracks, beats, or session files, organize them meticulously. Label all files clearly (e.g., "SongName_Beat_120BPM_Cminor.wav"). Bring your files on a reliable external hard drive or USB stick, and always have a backup stored in the cloud.

Note: Our Sound Engineer, Sofia Navarro, recommends providing stems without heavy processing on the master bus to allow maximum flexibility during the mixing phase.

03

Vocal and Physical Health

Your body is your instrument, especially for vocalists. In the days leading up to your session, stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water. Avoid dairy, excessive caffeine, and alcohol, as these can dehydrate your vocal cords or cause mucus buildup. Get a full night's sleep before your booking.

Madrid Context: If you're traveling via Metro San Bernardo (just a 3-minute walk to the studio), consider arriving 15 minutes early to catch your breath, hydrate, and warm up in our lounge area.

04

Communication and References

Clear communication with your engineering team is vital. Prepare a playlist of reference tracks—songs that have a similar sonic aesthetic, vocal mix, or overall vibe to what you want to achieve. Discuss these references with Carlos or Sofia at the start of your session.

Studio Policy: Remember that we offer a 24-hour response time for inquiries. Send your references and technical requirements to [email protected] well in advance of your session.
